Rehabilitation and Adaptive Reuse for Historic Post Office
Morgantown Historic Post Office (MHPO) rests in the heart of Downtown. The Morgantown arts and cultural community is diverse and vivacious with a knack for encouraging the development of communal organizations, including within the MHPO grounds. The facility is currently used for a multitude of operations and community related activities. The MHPO has undertaken a major expansion effort focused on a radical rethinking of the role the historic post office can plan in the arts and cultural scene of the city. Landmarks is leading a comprehensive effort to re-envision and rehabilitate the facility as a major regional arts institution anchor. Landmarks is working with the organization’s leadership and partners on the master planning and design effort and facilitated an intensive virtual design sprint. The initiative allowed arts and culture leader to engage with their fellow collaborators to mobilize critical thoughts and challenges as well as forge a vision for what it will become.
