 ARCHITECTURAL PRACTICE LEADER APPLICATION 

Landmarks SGA (www.lmsga.com) is an award-winning, multi-disciplinary architectural practice with a specialty in commercial, adaptive reuse, and the rehabilitation of historic and culturally significant structures and sites. The firm’s projects include a broad geographic area ranging from Philadelphia, and Pittsburgh metro-regions in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Maryland, and Northern Virginia. The firm has experienced steady growth and is expanding its practice capacity in western Pennsylvania.  

 

Landmarks is seeking an experienced senior level Architect preferably with a portfolio of commercial, adaptive reuse, and historic rehabilitation tax-credit projects. Our ideal candidate is a leader who can provide strategic direction, business development engagement, and expertise in practice management, delivery, and construction execution. The successful candidate will bring a passion and verve to the team and be responsible for leading the practice and providing client relations. Leadership Responsibilities 

  • Inspiring and leading staff and others by example, participating in staff mentoring and training, clearly defining team member expectations and responsibilities, empowering others, and delegating where appropriate based on team members’ recognized abilities and potential. 

  • Developing and shaping the firm’s talent strategy to recruit top talent and future professionals for the firm. 

  • Demonstrating leadership in the implementation and execution of projects to meet and exceed client’s goals and expectations. 

  • Ability to work remotely as needed and successfully lead projects, manage staff, and support other needs of the firm.  

  • Coordinating and supporting the firm’s business development, public relations, and marketing opportunities. 

  • Overseeing the development of standards, policies, and procedures to ensure that design philosophy and technologic utilization is at the current forefront of the state of practice.

  • Pittsburgh, PA Region 

 

Requirements: 

  • Must be a licensed Architect registered in the state of Pennsylvania; it is desirable, but not necessary to hold licenses in other states such as Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia, as well.  

  • Accredited Bachelor’s degree (minimum) and/or a Master’s degree (preferred) in Architecture. 

  • It is desirable, but not necessary, for candidates to hold dual degrees in an aligned profession such as Landscape Architecture, City and Regional Planning, or Urban Design.  

  • Established experience working in the Pittsburgh metro market is preferred.    

  • Sponsorship: Immigration related employment benefits, e.g. visa sponsorship, are not available for this position. 

 

Proficiencies: 

  • Competent writing, presentation, and verbal communication skills. 

  • Knowledge of Sustainable Design practices. 

  • LEED Accredited a plus. 

  • Proven knowledge of general architecture practice including programming, site planning, civil, structural, mechanical and electrical engineering. 

  • Strong analytical, oral, and written communication skills with the ability to build quick rapport with all levels of employees, clients, consultants, and vendors. 

  • Proven ability in problem identification, problem solving, and conflict resolution. 

  • Strong multi-tasking skills. 

  • Experience preparing and assembling presentation graphics, 3D/BIM models and renderings, and construction and report/plan document preparation and assembly. 

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, AutoCAD 3D map, AutoCAD 3DS Max, AutoCAD Revit, Rhinoceros, Sketch Up Pro, Adobe Creative Suites, and MS Office. (It is desirable that applicants have a high proficiency in all or most software packages listed) 

  • Portfolio and/or samples of work should illustrate the candidate’s strength of understanding in digital graphic presentation, 3D/BIM modeling, and construction documents preparation, as well as software proficiencies. 

 

Physical Requirements: 

  • Sitting for extended length of time 

  • Fluency in public speaking in the English Language 

  • Fieldwork/ability to travel  

  • Valid driver’s license 

  • Listening 

  • Typing and handwriting 

  • Hand drawing 

  • Occasional lifting of boxes up to 50lbs
