11th & Pike Recreation Center Building

The Reading Recreation Commission retained Landmarks SGA for architectural design and building evaluation services to assist the RRC in studying potential alternatives to improve and/or expand the 11thand Pike Recreation Center building.

The building is located in the center of the 11thand Pike Playground, a City park the size of a city block that contains soccer fields, basketball courts, a playground, and a spray park. The recreation center was originally constructed in 1998, and currently houses after-school programs, a cafeteria, and is a home base for sports leagues.

The RRC identified the need for a full-size high school regulation basketball court with bleachers, and the ability to accommodate other sports within that space. Landmarks SGA studied the feasible location for this addition while accounting for building access, building security and compartmentalization, and circulation between the existing building and addition.
